Chanel N°5 Eau de Parfum Decant

N°5 is more than a century old and still genuinely radical. The aldehydes that open it — soapy, slightly waxy, almost fizzy — were the innovation that made it famous, and they still catch modern noses off guard because nothing contemporary smells like this. Underneath sits one of the great floral hearts ever composed, jasmine and May rose and iris in a blend so smooth you cannot pull the individual flowers apart.

The base is sandalwood, vanilla and vetiver, and it is warm and powdery in a way that people either find timeless or find reminds them of their grandmother. Both reactions are legitimate. What is not legitimate is having strong opinions about N°5 without ever having worn it for a full day.

That is why we stock it. A 2 ml decant is a small price for filling in the single biggest gap in most people's fragrance education, and a surprising number of customers who order it expecting a history lesson end up buying the 30 ml.
