Creed Green Irish Tweed Decant
The reference green fougère. Cool violet leaf and iris over creamy sandalwood.
The fragrance
What Creed Green Irish Tweed actually smells like
Green Irish Tweed is forty years old and still the benchmark every fresh green masculine gets measured against. The opening is a cool, slightly minty lemon verbena; underneath it sits violet leaf and iris, which give the fragrance its distinctive dewy, almost damp-grass quality. It smells like a well-kept lawn at seven in the morning, and that is meant entirely as a compliment.
Where cheaper green fragrances go sharp and synthetic, GIT goes creamy. The sandalwood and ambergris base is what your money is actually buying: a soft, powdery warmth that holds the green notes up for six to eight hours instead of letting them evaporate in ninety minutes. It is the most conservative fragrance Creed makes and probably the most universally liked.
If you have ever been told Cool Water smells like Green Irish Tweed, the comparison is real but backwards — Davidoff's 1988 release was built on the same Pierre Bourdon accord at a fraction of the cost. Wearing them side by side from decants is one of the more instructive experiments in fragrance, and one reason we stock both.

Creed Green Irish Tweed FAQ
They share a designer and a core accord, so the family resemblance is unmistakable. GIT is smoother, creamier in the base and noticeably less sharp on top. Whether the gap justifies the price is exactly the question a 5 ml decant of each answers.
Very. It is clean, green and moderate in sillage, and it is one of the safest recommendations we make for a shared workspace or a first meeting.
Spring and early autumn are ideal. It performs well in warm weather too because the green notes stay crisp rather than turning sweet.
