What Parfums de Marly Pegasus actually smells like
Pegasus is almond done as luxury. Bitter almond and heliotrope give it an unmistakable marzipan quality in the first hour, and where a cheaper fragrance would let that turn synthetic, Parfums de Marly folds it into a vanilla-sandalwood base that reads creamy and soft rather than sugary. It is one of the most comforting fragrances in production.
It performs beautifully — nine to ten hours with a warm sillage that people lean into. Autumn and winter are its home, and it is a strong evening choice, though the almond is clean enough that it works in an office at one or two sprays.
Pegasus and Layton are the two Marly pillars and they go in different directions: Layton is fruity-fresh into vanilla, Pegasus is nutty into cream. Trying both from 5 ml decants is the standard way people decide which Marly to buy.

In the first hour, very much so — bitter almond and heliotrope are the dominant notes. It gets creamier and less confectionery as the vanilla and sandalwood base develops.
Pegasus is nutty, creamy and comforting. Layton is fruity, fresh on top and sweeter in the base. Pegasus is the more distinctive of the two; Layton is the bigger crowd-pleaser.
Yes, and it is spicier and more intense with a stronger cinnamon-rum character. The standard Pegasus is the almond-vanilla version most people are looking for.
