Dior Ambre Nuit Decant

Ambre Nuit is from Dior's Privée line and it does one thing beautifully: it puts a Turkish rose against a dry amber and makes both better. Pink pepper opens it with a bit of spark, then the rose arrives — not sweet, not jammy, but slightly peppery and clean — and settles onto an amber-guaiac base that is warm without being sticky.

It is restrained in the best sense. Sillage stays close and longevity runs six to eight hours, so it reads as a personal fragrance rather than a statement. It is also genuinely unisex; the rose is handled dryly enough that it never tips feminine.

Privée bottles are expensive and only sold in Dior boutiques, which makes them exactly the kind of thing people want to try before travelling to a counter. That is most of why we stock this line.
